Over and above our projects at origin we also get involved in other charitable stuff.
Some overseas like Amigos in Uganda, but also locally here in the UK supporting individuals and organisations by subsidising equipment, sponsoring events, donating raffle prizes or helping fund transformational initiatives in local communities.
The Amigos charity who we partner with are doing great stuff in Africa.
One of our founders has been involved with Amigos for more than 10 years and has visited Uganda and the work several times. As individuals we also sponsor children through Amigos - a very simple way of making a difference, but the small amount each month is transformational in the lives of those who receive it.
Amigos are currently focused on building Kira Farm Training Centre - a planned vocational training centre for young people, now taking shape about 12 miles north of Kampala, in the Guyaza area. Alongside a comprehensive farming syllabus they will also be offering training in life skills. This is because many young Ugandan orphans have missed out on normal family life, have little understanding of basic health, hygiene, nutrition, and the simple tasks of everyday life. They aim to build confidence, honesty and faithfulness into these young lives so that they will become upright, trustworthy and self-reliant citizens as they return to their various communities.
Here is a video of a recent trip to Uganda, where Joss Stone was there for the offical opening of Kira Farm Training Centre.
If you want to help them more than just buying our speciality fair trade coffee, you'd be doing a good thing. Click here.
